Mi TV 4A 100cm (40) Review

The Mi TV 4A 100cm (40) is a great budget friendly Smart TV that has some decent features for the price. The picture quality is good and the sound quality is also good for a TV of this size. Overall, the Mi TV 4A 100cm is a good value for the money.

One of the strengths of the Mi TV 4A 100cm is that it has built-in Chromecast which allows you to cast content from your smartphone directly to the TV. The picture quality with Chromecast is good and there’s no delay in audio or video playback when streaming content via Chromecast.

Design:

The Mi TV 4A 100cm is a very slim and light weight TV. It’s not wall mountable but does have a stand that you can tilt the screen up or down to adjust to your viewing preference. The Mi TV 4A 100cm has an LED backlit display with IPS technology which provides good picture quality from all angles. The bezels around the screen are quite thin which gives the TV a modern look.

The overall build quality of the Mi TV 4A 100cm is good and feels solid. It’s not as premium as some of the more expensive TVs on the market, but for the price it’s a good value.

Specs:

The Mi TV 4A 100cm has a 40-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080. It’s powered by a quad-core Cortex A53 processor and has 2GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

The Mi TV 4A 100cm also has a built-in Chromecast which allows you to cast content from your smartphone directly to the TV. The picture quality with Chromecast is good and there’s no delay in audio or video playback when streaming content via Chromecast.

Software:

The Mi TV 4A 100cm runs on MIUI 8 which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. One area where the Mi TV 4A 100cm (40) falls short of premium TVs is that it doesn’t have a lot of pre-installed apps like you would find with some other brands including Sony, Samsung and LG. The selection of pre-installed apps is quite limited and includes Mi Video, Mi Music, Mi Browser and Google Play Store for downloading more apps such as Netflix or Hotstar. You can also sideload other Android apps that you may need by enabling ‘Unknown Sources’ in the Developer Options menu.

Moving on to performance, the Mi TV 4A 100cm (40) has good picture quality with colors looking rich and vibrant. It has decent viewing angles with minimal color shift when viewed from an angle. There is some loss in brightness with the screen losing around 25% of its brightness when viewed from an angle of 30 degrees or more which is quite low for a budget TV.

Conclusion:

The Mi TV 4A 100cm (40) is a good value for money with decent specs and performance. It has built-in Chromecast and runs on MIUI 8 which includes the Google Play Store. However, it would have been perfect if it had some more pre-installed apps like Netflix since you will need to sideload these apps if you want to use them. The picture quality is good and the sound quality is also good for a TV of this size. Overall, the Mi TV 4A 100cm (40) is a great budget friendly Smart TV.
