This laptop was released earlier this year and has been a very popular choice for both students and professionals. HP SPECTRE X360 14 Review. It is a high quality laptop which competes directly with the Surface Pro 4, so let’s see how it stacks up.
CPU:
Similar to the Surface Pro 4, the Spectre has an Intel Core i7 with Turbo Boost speeds of up to 3.5GHz. This is one of the best CPUs you can get on a laptop right now, and will be able to handle any task thrown at it with no problem. You can even do some light video editing if you are in a pinch.
Performance:
As expected, the Spectre has no problems handling any program or task you throw at it. I experienced only minimal lag when switching between windows and programs, but it wasn’t anything worth complaining about. The Core i7 was designed for multitasking and this laptop uses every bit of it.
Graphics:
The Spectre has an integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 chip which will handle everyday tasks just fine, but if you are doing any sort of professional graphic design work then this laptop is not for you. This isn’t a gaming laptop either so don’t expect to play your favorite AAA titles on high settings with the highest FPS possible.
Battery Life:
The Spectre has a battery life of up to 12 hours, depending on your personal settings. My settings typically kept me at around 9-10 hours which was more than enough for my daily commute. It also comes with fast charging technology so you can get it back to 100% in just over an hour if needed.
Physical Size:
The Spectre is one of the thinner laptops on this list coming in at only 0.7″ thick, but it still weighs over 3 lbs which makes carrying around campus or work a lot less fun. The added weight does feel nice though, because you will always know that your laptop is there.
Ports:
The Spectre comes with 2 USB 3.1 Type-C ports which are the future of connectivity, but right now they are still a hassle because you will need adapters to be able to use your current USB devices. There is also 1 USB 3.0 port for connecting your current accessories, an HDMI port to connect it to another monitor or TV, and an SD card reader.HP SPECTRE X360 14 Review
