mi notebook 14 horizon edition

The Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition is a powerful laptop featuring a 10th generation Intel Core i7 processor that can run multiple programs simultaneously. This would be perfect for artists who draw and edit their work or students looking to get many things done at once.

The Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition has NVIDIA® GeForce® MX350, which is very low for the price range of this laptop. The design is good, but due to its wider size, it doesn’t feel good in hands while carrying, especially when Mi brand laptops

  • A complete Adobe Illustrator program

Mi NoteBook Pro Lean Mean Machine

an ugly duckling with hidden features. I’ve been using this laptop for about four months now, and I like it more than my previous laptops (Dell Studio 14, Acer Aspire), but I didn’t expect much due to its Mi brand laptops

The first thing you will notice is that it’s big and heavy, even though the size isn’t much different from regular 15″ laptops, and it’s lighter than my Acer Aspire. Also, keep in mind that the surface is slippery, so you need a laptop skin to protect it.

The power supply unit (that doesn’t look like a power supply) is small, light, and can charge the battery up to 60% in ~1h30. For the first time since I got my previous laptops, I’m using an SSD, and it feels like a whole new world! Everything starts in less than ~10s (even though I’ve disabled many services), and it boots faster than any other machine that has ever touched me (first thing: enabled booting to desktop and disabled all startup services).

  • Windows 10 – enough said.
  • USB 3.0 on both sides
  • 15″ full HD display (it’s a TN panel, though)
  • 8GB RAM (4GB soldered, upgradeable to 16GB via better SODIMM – some laptops have only 4GB soldered and cannot be upgraded, which is stupid if you ask me)
  • Dual fan Cooler Boost: the fans will spin like crazy if you’re gaming, but otherwise, they are quiet and efficient. Also, the laptop only gets slightly warm, so there’s no need for a cooling pad or something similar.

  • It’s a perfect choice for programmers and students: it has enough power, the keyboard feels nice, and the display is not bad at all. Also, because of its price and size, I find it more appropriate than regular ultrabooks.
  • The battery lasts between 5 to 6 hours under regular use (i.e., browsing). If you’re gaming, expect to get only 1h30m tops (connect the power supply when playing games for more than ~1h).
  • The SODIMM slot is accessible without any need for disassembling the laptop. However, I’ve noticed that my 8GB RAM never gets to 1333MHz unless I’m using it in single-channel mode, for some reason.

  • The microphone is a joke – even though it’s placed on top of the keyboard, you’ll get a lot of background noise, and other people won’t be able to hear you properly.
  • There are only 2 USB 3.0 ports, so I had to buy a cheap USB hub to avoid constantly plugging/unplugging USB sticks every time I start this laptop.
  • No CD drive

Mi Notebook Ultra

The Mi NoteBook isn’t just any laptop. It’s one of the most excellent Windows laptops we’ve ever seen, at a $750 price point that shames Apple and other PC makers for charging almost double, if not triple, what you’d pay for this machine. But to understand why it’s so amazing at its price, let’s go back to that most amazing thing I just said:

I’m talking about a laptop with a Core i7-8550U processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of PCIe solid-state storage. That’s the configuration we’ve been testing at PC Labs and can verify as accurate. And it costs $750. How do they do it? Xiaomi’s approach is to maximize hardware performance and minimize everything else. So you’ll get an excellent display, long battery life, lightning-fast storage speed, ports galore (including USB Type-C), and more. But it won’t have frills like a touchscreen or any extra features you don’t need (that nickel coating on the lid notwithstanding). It’s like the opposite of Apple.

And that brings us to what I’m about to tell you: If you take one look at the Mi NoteBook and think, “Nah, it looks too much like an Apple MacBook Air,” yeah, OK. You might be on to something there. Xiaomi has succeeded in creating a laptop that looks a lot like the MacBook Air from every angle. But it’s not trying to hide that fact, as there have been several other companies whose laptops have looked a bit too much like Apple laptops over the Mi brand laptops

  • #Premium design: ultra-thin and light metal chassis with iconic golden Xiaomi mi logo
  • #11th gen Intel Core i7-7500U processor (4MB Cache, 2.7GHz)
  • #Brilliant 15.6″ (1920 x 1080) display for crystal-clear visuals
  • #NVIDIA Geforce NVidia MX350 / MX450 graphics for the best gaming graphics experience
  • #All-day 12 hour battery life for your all-day productivity
  • #Dual band 2.4GHz / 5.0GHz WiFi for super-fast internet connectivity

  • The display is excellent for a laptop in this price range.
  • For the specs, it feels pretty good, but I expected it to be a bit more high-end. It’s not going to last that long with heavy use.

  • Battery life isn’t that great when multitasking and the fan can get a bit loud when it kicks on.
  • The fan can kick on pretty frequently, and it can get a bit annoying.
